in motion Russ Kisby Physical Activity Leadership Award
Congratulations to Manitoba in motion, this years recipient of National 2008 in motion Russ Kisby Physical Activity Leadership Award. The award was presented at a ceremony in Saskatoon on Tuesday, June 24th.
Manitoba in motion is a provincial strategy to encourage all Manitobans to make physical activity part of their daily lives for health and enjoyment.
Since the program was launched in October 2005:
• 97 communities from across the province have registered as Communities in motion;
• the province has invested more than $716,000 in 248 grants to Communities in motion projects aimed at increasing physical activity;
• more than 100 workplaces have signed up as Workplaces in motion; and
• 507 schools (more than half of Manitoba schools) have signed up as Healthy Schools in motion.

In motion is dedicated to improving the health of individuals, organizations and communities through the promotion and implementation of physical activity initiatives for health benefits. The vision of in motion is that regular physical activity will be engrained into the culture of all Canadians.
The in motion Russ Kisby Physical Activity Leadership Award acknowledges individuals or organizations that exhibit an outstanding contribution to the health of their community through physical activity. This can be in the form of leadership through role modeling, programs or initiatives, promotions or innovation in the area of physical activity.
The in motion Russ Kisby Physical Activity Leadership Award is presented in honour of Russ Kisby, a visionary leader of the physical activity movement in Canada through his founding work in the establishment of ParticipACTION and his ongoing commitment to the advancement of knowledge and understanding in the field of physical activity for health benefits.
In motion believes it is a priority to recognize excellence in the physical activity field, by honouring distinguished individuals and organizations for their significant achievements.
